Cuppa & catch up

An ordinary Tuesday (Valentine’s Day) for each of these places turned into a day of smiles and hugs as patients, members and staff received a hamper of goodies with a personal message written by members of the local community.

The unexpected token of love left a beautiful atmosphere and feeling of gratitude and happiness as volunteers had come together to distribute these packages, spend time with them and write personal messages to each recipient. We thank Param Krupalu Dev and Pujya Gurudevshri for the opportunity to give with no expectation but simply to see another smile!

As part of the Warm Spaces initiative of Hertsmere Council, twice a month, local members of the community are welcomed to the SRMD London Spiritual Centre creating a supportive environment for the local community where they can share thoughts and feelings, amongst great company and combat loneliness to improve the wellbeing of the entire community!

At a time when many cannot afford to heat their homes in winter, and there is a global trend in declining mental health, LSC can provide a safe space for those who need someone to share their struggles with and improve their wellbeing. Hot drinks, biscuits and Raj Uphaar snacks are kindly provided by volunteers.

The Mayor of Hertsmere attended this session on Tuesday 24th January along with his wife. He is a supporter of the Warm Spaces initiative, and was very pleased to see the success of this being provided at LSC.

The attendees were involved in writing cards for the Valentine’s gift packs, which will be given to hospice patients and staff to show appreciation and love towards them. There was a Qi gong exercise by one of the attendees followed by a short meditation; those present felt encouraged to learn about different spiritual practices and to share new viewpoints.
