Appreciating Animal Welfare Initiatives of Government of Maharashtra

The Government of Maharashtra recently took several decisions for animal welfare, including the declaration of cows as ‘Rajyamata,’ the formation of a Gauseva Aayog, and an allowance of Rs. 50 per day per cow. The government’s actions also focussed on the upliftment of the Jain community, such as formation of the Bhagwan Mahavir Swami 2550th Nirvana Kalyanak Mahotsav Samiti, a Jain Minority Economic Development Mahamandal and allocating land for a Jain gymkhana.

Various Jain organisations welcomed these actions and affirmed their support for the initiatives. Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur was invited to the Mahabhivadan Samarambh in Mumbai. The trustees of the Mission, Sarvarpit Rahul Jhaveri and Premarpit Ratan Lunawat, presented a token of gratitude to Shri Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Minister of Tourism and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. Dignitaries at the event included Shri Shekhar Mundada, Chairman, Gauseva Aayog and Dr Girish Shah, Managing Trustee, Samast Mahajan amongst others. In his speech, Premarpit Ratan Lunawat acknowledged the efforts of the government for promoting cow protection and welfare, stressed the importance of self-reliance for panjrapoles and gaushalas and encouraged the formation of concrete policies to safeguard animals. The event also included a video presentation on Shrimad Rajchandra Jivamaitridham, showcasing the Mission’s ongoing initiatives for animal welfare, underscoring its continued support towards the government’s efforts in this regard.
